DESCRIPTION

 

The Department of French seeks a pool of qualified candidates for possible consideration as temporary instructors to teach beginning to advanced level in the area of French language and culture should openings arise.

 

The pool will remain in place for one calendar year; those interested in remaining in the pool beyond that time must reapply. Positions will be part-time, renewable, non-tenure track. Typically the Department reviews applications for fall teaching in April and May, and applications for spring teaching in October and November and for the summer in April (if applicable). The final date for applicants will be March 30, 2018. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, and appointments may be renewable based on need, funding and performance.

 

General Duties:

 

Responsibilities include teaching lower division beginning to advanced level French courses, curriculum development; and collaborating with other language faculty.

 

Minimum Basic Qualifications: Minimum requirements include an MA (or equivalent degree) in French, Second Language Acquisition, Applied Linguistics, or a relevant field; native or near- native ability in French and English by the time of application.

 

Additional Qualifications (by start date): Demonstrated excellence in college-level teaching for at least three years.

 

For those who are not US citizens or permanent residents, a legal permit that allows work in the United States (such as a US visa that allows employment) is required by the start date of the position. The department is unable to provide a visa/work permit.

 

Preferred Qualifications: PhD (or equivalent degree) and relevant college-level teaching experience in French.

Salary commensurate with education and teaching experience. Starting minimum full-time equivalent annual academic salary is $52,099.00.
