Main tasks:

  • Guided tour of the Aguntum excavation as a research center (planning and coordination of the research in cooperation with the "Curatorium pro Aguntum", supervision of the fieldwork, its documentation and archiving, preliminary reports, publication of individual monographs). The transformation of the Aguntum excavation into a multiscale crime scene archeology (archaeometry, material culture studies, ethnoarchaeology) and resulting publications are also central

  • Independent conducting of lectures and holding of examinations in the course of the excavation in Aguntum and the curricula at the Institute of Archeology as well as the support of students and qualification work

  • Participation in the development of a semantic, ontology-based data integration between the digital databases of the research projects of the Institute of Archeology

  • Independent procurement of third-party funding from national and European funding institutions


Required qualification:

  • Completed doctorate studies in Classical Archeology or in Roman Provincial Archeology

  • A prominent figure in the archaeological heritage in the Roman provinces of Austria

  • Participation in the management of a major field archeology project as well as mastering the methods of field archeological prospecting and research

  • Profound knowledge of the safety and occupational safety regulations of archaeological field projects

  • Familiarity with archeometry and the methods of material culture studies; Experiences in the application of ethnoarchaeological approaches

  • Competences in the construction of interoperable, relational databases in the context of large digestion projects and in collaboration with the Digital Humanities

  • Dedicated to independent acquisition of third party funds

  • Experiences in the tourist value of an archaeological site are desirable

  • Social skills and teamwork

  • Possibility of elimination in case of continuous need and positive performance evaluation
