Chair (W3) of History of Saxony

 


is to be filled as soon as possible.

 


The applicant should represent the field in research and teaching within the Faculty of Arts,
Humanities and Social Sciences (Philosophische Fakultät) and is obliged to participate in the
self-administration of the university. A willingness and ability to conduct classes in English is
expected. Candidates are expected to adress history of Saxony in comparative regional perspective,
and preferably with a focus on early modern and modern history. The participation
in interdisciplinary research groups of TU Dresden, and the cooperation with partners of
DRESDEN-concept (e.g. Militärhistorisches Museum Dresden, Deutsches HygieneMuseum,
Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden) as well as with other partners in the field
is expected. Applicants must be prepared to act as one of the directors of the Institute of
Saxon History and Ethnography (Institut für Sächsische Geschichte und Volkskunde e.V.) and
should, therefore, have sufficient experience in scientific management.

 


Experience in acquiring third party funding is presupposed. A focus on current history, culture,
language, and/or social scientific theories and issues (e.g. violence and emotion analysis
or gender research) is highly desired, as well as the willingness for interdisciplinary cooperation.
Applicants must fulfil the employment qualification requirements of § 58 of the Act
Governing Academic Freedom in Higher Education in the Free State of Saxony (Saxon Academic
Free-dom in Higher Education Act – SächsHSFG).
