Assistant Professor in English Language Teaching
ReferenceART131217 The School of English is seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor in English Language Teaching / Second Language Acquisition to provide cover for a member of staff partially seconded to a British Council funded research project. The successful candidate will undertake teaching in the areas of English Language Teaching and related topics in the School of English, and will contribute more widely to the School’s teaching and research activities on both its UK and international campuses.
Candidates should have a PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant area of English Language Teaching, Applied Linguistics, or Second Language Acquisition, as well as having language teaching experience. Evidence of the ability to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels on live and distance programmes is essential, covering some (preferably more than one) of the following topics: Second language vocabulary, English Language Teaching, second language pedagogy, second language acquisition, and language assessment. Evidence of publications would be an advantage.
This is a part-time (18 hours per week) fixed-term post from 1 September 2017 until 31 August 2018, based in the School of English, Trent Building, University Park.
Long-listed candidates will be asked to provide items of research if available for consideration by the School. The interview process will include a presentation of teaching, research and a formal interview.
