Applications are invited for a two-year Temporary Lectureship in Gender Studies in the University of Cambridge Centre for Gender Studies, part of the Department of Politics and International Studies, from 1 October 2017. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a growing and thriving Centre in POLIS. The appointment will be made in conjunction with Lucy Cavendish College.

 

The post-holder should have researched, published and taught on gender topics. Applicants will be expected to have a strong background in gender related theory and methods. The post-holder will partake in all the Centre's functions including post-graduate teaching on the MPhil and PhD programmes in Multi-disciplinary Gender Studies, undergraduate teaching for the HSPS Tripos (including for example the Part IIB paper 'Politics and Gender'), research, academic administration, academic events/public engagement and fundraising. The post-holder will be expected to undertake College teaching in addition to the Departmental requirements.

 

Candidates will need to show evidence of the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Good first degree and a doctorate in a relevant subject area (or clear evidence that completion of such a doctorate is imminent);

  • Evidence of ability to teach the required subject areas effectively, and at all relevant levels;

  • Evidence of ability to engage in internationally recognised high-level research, with publications and participation in scholarly activity commensurate with stage of career;

  • Ability to play an effective role in the life and work of the Centre and the Department and the College;

  • Ability to work as part of a team.

 

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.
