Lecturer in Special Education (Early Childhood & Special Needs Education Academic Group)
The Early Childhood and Special Needs Education Academic Group (ECSE AG) at the National Institute of Education is the main teacher education department in Singapore for teacher and personnel preparation in early childhood and special needs education (including students with high abilities). ECSE AG offers pre-service, in-service and higher degree programmes in special needs education, early childhood and high abilities (gifted education). In addition, ECSE AG staff members are strongly encouraged to be involved in high quality research that have a significant impact within the local Singaporean context and contribute to new knowledge internationally.
The ECSE AG invites applicants with a PhD or EdD in Education or a related field, with a teaching emphasis on learning disabilities, to apply for a lecturer position in our department. Applicants should have tertiary teaching experience in working with teachers and/or other school personnel to support students with wide range of learning needs, such as reading, writing and maths, within mainstream or regular schools. It is preferable for applicants to have also worked with students with learning disabilities at the primary/elementary and/or secondary school levels. It is also preferable for applicants to be familiar with research-supported strategies and pedagogies, and who are able to translate and share in their teaching such evidence-based approaches.
The successful applicant will be expected to teach at the pre-service, in-service and postgraduate levels, supervise student teachers in teaching practicum, provide some supervision for master and doctoral students as well as assume administrative responsibilities.
