The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of Associate Professor in »Research on Learning and Instruction« limited for 5 years; to begin in winter semester 2017/18. This position is a W3 position with a reduced teaching load. The professorship is endowed by the Zentrum für internationale Bildungsvergleichsstu-dien (ZIB).
TUM School of Education is one of Germany’s most innovative institutions for teacher education and educational research. We offer bachelor and master programs in particular for pre-service teachers in vocational schools and secondary schools (“Gymnasium”). We cooperate with most departments of the Technical University of Munich and rely on a network with numerous schools in the Munich area. The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of research on learning and instruction. The teaching load includes courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs. Responsibilities include also the coordination of meta-analyses in the area of educational research.
We are looking for a candidate with advanced scientific experience, proven by achievements in research and teaching at the highest international standards. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification (e.g. in psychology, pedagogy/education, education research) as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English, are also prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected.
Experience in conducting, evaluating and documenting large-scale assessments is desired. Active participation in preparing and evaluating international comparative studies currently in progress (PISA) is required.
